SAMPLE BEQUEST LANGUAGE FOR CHESHIRE ACADEMY

Designating Cheshire Academy as a beneficiary in a will or trust is a profound act of philanthropy and ensures that the Academy will continue to serve its mission and make a difference in the lives of future generations. A bequest:

Is easy to arrange.
Will not alter your current lifestyle in any way.
Can be easily modified to address your changing needs.

Residual Bequest Language

A residual bequest comes to Cheshire Academy after your estate expenses and obligations are paid:

I give and devise to Cheshire Academy, located at 10 Main Street, Cheshire, Connecticut 06410, a 501(c)3 educational organization, all (or state a percentage) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific fund or program*).

*If said program or fund is no longer viable, applicable, or in existence, the bequest will support a school priority most closely aligned with donor intent.

Specific Bequest Language

Naming Cheshire Academy as a beneficiary of a specific amount from your estate:

I give and devise to Cheshire Academy, located at 10 Main Street, Cheshire, Connecticut 06410, a 501(c)3 educational organization, the sum of $___________ to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific fund or program*).

*If said program or fund is no longer viable, applicable, or in existence, the bequest will support a school priority most closely aligned with donor intent.

Contingent Bequest Language

Cheshire Academy can be named as a contingent beneficiary in your will or personal trust if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled:

If (insert name) is not living or in existence at the time of my demise, I give and devise to Cheshire Academy, located at 10 Main Street, Cheshire, Connecticut 06410, a 501(c)3 educational organization, the sum of $ _______ (or all or a percentage of the residue of my estate) to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific fund or program*).

*If said program or fund is no longer viable, applicable, or in existence, the bequest will support a school priority most closely aligned with donor intent.
